ADVENT BLOG HOP
12TH DAY

Today is the 12th day of Jo's Advent Hop.   Every day there will be a new blogger(s) who will share a Christmas stitch and their favorite Christmas song.  We are thrilled to take part in this fun, annual, holiday hop that Jo has so graciously put together.   If you would like to read more about the hop and see a list of the other blogs to visit, go to Jo's blog at Serendipitous Stitching.

⛄⛄⛄
RJ's ornament

I made this one for Mary because of her love of birds.   It is called "Christmas Birdhouse" by Country Cottage NeedleworksIt was stitched on 40 ct. flax linen with over dyed threads.  I used  check and mini flower fabrics and green check ribbon ruched around the ornament. It took a whole roll of ribbon to make it nice and full.   And, I love the little wreath button on the peak of the birdhouse.

RJ's favorite Christmas song:

Choosing my favorite Christmas song was hard to do because I love so many.    My very favorite is "Oh Holy Night" by John Berry (who has an incredible voice) but it has been chosen a few times so I will pick another favorite which is "I'll be Home for Christmas" by Rascal Flatts.   Love the harmony on this rendition.

You can find John Berry's "Oh Holy Night" here

and "I'll be Home for Christmas" by Rascal Flatts here

                                                           ⛄⛄⛄

Mary's Ornament

My Christmas Ornament is "Season of Love"  by Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks.I used the called for DMC with the exception of substituting Weeks Chestnut for 869 and GA Cranberry for 3721.

"Season of Love" is one of my favorite ornaments in her series. It was a quick stitch and I love the sentiment as Christmastide is indeed the Season of Love.

My favorite song is "The Christmas Song" sung by Nat King Cole.  I remember hearing it for the first time in my grandparents living room in the 1960's and ever since then it has been my favorite Christmas song.

You can find Nat King Cole's "Christmas song" here

Just couldn't resist posting this:

                                                          ⛄⛄⛄

We wish everyone a very blessed and merry holiday season.   This year has been so much fun getting to know all of you so well and sharing ideas.   We should be back with another post right after the holidays if not before.

  19. What beautiful ornaments you have both stitched! I love the bird on that birdhouse R.J. and Mary your little snowmen are adorable! Yes Christmas is the season of love! I love Christmas music and there are so many carols that I love but Silent Night is by far my favorite for very sentimental reasons. When I was a little girl around 2 years old my mom and dad took me to church to see the Christmas Pageant performed by the children in the school. At the end of the pageant they sang Silent Night and my mom said I was sitting in her lap and singing Silent Night right along with the children...she said she had tears pouring down her cheeks as did the other ladies sitting near us. ☺️ I also loved singing it with Scott on Christmas Eve in the candlelight of our church. Just a few little memories! Hugs my dear friends! Merry Christmas!❤️❤️

  25. Oh, these are both adorable, RJ and Mary! Mary, I made the snowman couple for my oldest and his wife last Christmas... Still need to figure out what one to make them for this year--eek! I am running out of time as you probably feel you are, too.

Love your choice of carols. RJ, my favorite is the same as yours--I never tire of that beautiful song. It gives me shivers each time I hear it!

If you don't post again before Christmas, I wish you the best of the season--time spent with family and friends to enjoy the beauty of Christmas... ♥♥♥

Mary, I LOVE the snowpeople! Snowmen have a special place in my world. Do you have birds or just a love for them?

I would not have been able to pick a favorite song because I like them all! ha ha

Merry Christmas Ladies and may 2019 be all you dream of!

  36. RJ and Mary, I love your ornaments! Mary, that one is on my wish list of things to do someday. And I really like how both of you used ruched ribbon for the trim, how one was gathered fully and the other was loose in lovely loops (how's that for alliteration?).

Oh, that meme is hilarious! The last year we had a real tree (we have an artificial one now), we had gone out of town for the weekend. When we got home, it had fallen over on its own (we didn't have a dog then) - broken ornaments and pine needles everywhere (no access to water, so the tree dried out). I was so tired and frustrated that I went to bed and said I'd deal with it in the morning. When I got up, there was no trace of the mess anywhere. Shawn had gotten up early and had gotten rid of all the "evidence." He said I had worked so hard to decorate the house that he didn't want me to have to deal with that mess.

My favorite Christmas song is Silent Night - any version of it. But one that really melts my heart is "The Spirit of Christmas" performed by Ray Charles (played in Christmas Vacation when Clark is stuck up in the attic). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaAdg_l38Cc

I'm in the Christmas mood, thank you so much for the great Christmas songs, my favorite is Silent Night .... in german "Stille Nacht", I used to sing that under the Christmas tree when I was a child.
Merry Christmas, dear Mary and Roberta, and a Happy New Year,

  43. Wonderful Christmas smalls--love 'em.

RJ, "Oh, Holy Night" was the first solo I ever sang. At 16 I was too naive to know any better, but it couldn't have been that awful. Mom tells me a date I went on with a guy at church soon after was directly related to that solo--lol.

Speaking of laughter, Mary. The meme with the dog and the tree was hilarious.

    Mary Christmas, ladies. Judy
